Morgan Freeman - Easy Reader
From 1971-1977, PBS produced a children’s television show entitled The Electric Company. The original cast included Morgan Freeman (singing the above theme song), Rita Moreno, Bill Cosby, Afrika Baambaataa, Judy Graubart, Lee Chamberlin, and Skip Hinnant. Using music and sketch comedy, kids were taught words, how to use an apostrophe, and of course, speak in a clear tone.
Besides the above, here are some more awesome things about The Electric Company:
- Bill Cosby used his experience on the the show as credit towards his doctorate in education.
- Marvel Comics did not charge for the use of Spider Man.
- Most of the graphics were font type Franklin Gothic.
The show went on to earn a grammy and is now available on itunes. Even more fun facts found here.
